Sallie has a B.A. in Art History and English from Hollins College, and an M.S. in Horticulture and Agronomy from The University of California at Davis, specializing in viticulture. She has a deep knowledge of antiques, art, and architecture. She also remains passionate about gardening and outdoor spaces, and happily advises clients on all aspects of outdoor and biophilic design as well.
Sallie Hess started Sallie Hess Interiors in 2010 in San Francisco, and reopened in the D.C. area in 2020 after taking a few years off, because she has a passion for helping clients transform their homes into personalized refuges they can return to at the end of the day and feel embraced and relaxed. The collaborative, creative process of making your space more you is one that she just couldn’t stay away from. Sallie has a passion for design—both in beauty and functionality—and loves to share what she knows with clients and friends.
